BMW unveiled the fully electric crossover iX3 at the passing motor show in Beijing. It should be noted, however, that at the moment the novelty presented has the status of a concept and is built on the basis of the X3 platform of the latest generation. Nevertheless, the crossover will go into mass production. It is planned to be assembled in China at a joint venture of BMW Brilliance.
The BMW iX3 is equipped with a brand-new electric drive BMW eDrive of the fifth generation. Its difference is that the electric motor, transmission, electronics and batteries are combined in a separate housing, which simplifies the task of integrating the system into any other model.
According to the technical specifications, the BMW iX3 is equipped with a 272-horsepower electric motor and a battery of 70 kW / h, which provides a range of more than 400 km. In addition, the electric car supports charging stations with a power of 150 kW, which allows replenishing the energy reserve in only half an hour.
The conceptual electromobile visually differs from the serial BMW X3 with an aerodynamic body and wheel disks combined with elements of the original radiator grille, which for the first time in history does not have strict division into two sections, as well as blue accents on the body, which are inherent in the entire line of electromobiles BMW i.
In accordance with the development plan for the line of plug-in hybrids and electric Mobile, painted before 2025, carmaker BMW will launch 25 new models. The first of these became the sporty hybrid i8 Roadster. In 2019, the company plans to introduce an electric MINI, followed by the iX3 and iNext drones.
In addition, it is planned to produce very powerful electric cars. They will receive 800-strong three-engine installations and will be able to accelerate to 100 kilometers per hour in less than three seconds.
