Tilapia is one of the most common commercial fish, which is grown in special square cages and fed manually several times a day. Specialists of the Brazilian company Fisher piscicultura aquaculture have developed a new technology that differs from the previous one with much lower costs and mortality of fish.

A new fish farm consists of several round cages with wire mesh walls in an aluminum frame 4.5 m high and 12 m in diameter. immersed in the body of water, while the upper part of them in the form of a ring of PET plastic remains on the surface.

In the center of the tank there is a bunker, where 1200 kg of feed is placed, and which is equipped with a timer connected to the solar battery. The feed is automatically fed to the garden 48 times a day. Such frequent feeding provides the fish with a feeling of constant satiety, and it consumes less food than longer breaks. This mode allows you to save money on food, reduces the amount of excrement and improves digestion.

Earlier, when the fish was gaining the right size and weight, it was transplanted into another tank, making room for the young. This process was very painful for the fish, as a result of which part of it died.

Now, according to the new technology, the fish do not need to be caught from the tank before the transplant – it moves to the new tank without leaving the water. This is achieved by means of a wedge-shaped mesh container, which is inserted into the cage, after which the fish are pounded by means of a rotary valve. At the last stage the mesh container simply moves to another tank.
