iPhone owners will now be able to view YouTube videos with an enhanced dynamic range (HDR). As users of Reddit portal inform, this function appeared after the next application update in the App Store.

HDR technology significantly expands the dynamic color range of the image, provides better brightness and contrast. This allows you to reveal all the advantages of a particular screen.

To start watching HDR-enabled videos, just select the appropriate item in the resolution section of the YouTube mobile application.

HDR is also available for iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, but for some unknown reason, these smartphones did not get support for this format on YouTube. Apparently, Google believed that the technology will fully reveal its potential only on OLED-displays.
