<pre>How manufacturers of Android-smartphones deceive their customers

Some manufacturers deliberately missed security updates for their smartphones, claiming that they are already installed. This was confirmed by experts in the field of information security of Security Research Labs. They analyzed more than 1000 devices, many of which deceived users.

The study showed that some smartphones, including those produced by first-tier manufacturers, received less than one to twelve security updates. Despite this, the system stopped manual search for updates, displaying a message on the device that the current version of the software is already installed on the device.

As a rule, experts say, “empty” update builds are observed on smartphones based on MediaTek processors. On average, such smart phones are losing more than half of the scheduled updates. Smartphones based on Qualcomm chips on average lose only one update.

According to representatives of Security Research Labs, some manufacturers simply changed the release date for the same update, deliberately neglecting the security of their customers. Unfortunately, the experts did not begin to voice the brands that act in this way. The SnoopSnitch application will be able to verify the availability of updates.
