The technology is continuously being improved, however, in the field of batteries and batteries for a long time there has been a lull. Probably, everything will change soon: Sila Nanotechnoligies develops a new type of batteries that will significantly increase battery life.
We are talking about lithium-silicon batteries that will soon go into mass production. The main innovation is that Sila Technologies has managed to solve the problem inherent in silicon anodes – short-lived. The first prototypes that use silicon and graphene nanoparticles are ready: thanks to this approach, the company managed to achieve a capacity increase of 30-40%.
A big plus is also that for the production of such batteries it will not be necessary to make serious corrections to the already existing manufacturing process. It is expected that the technology will find application not only in smartphones and tablets, but also in cars with electric power units. Therefore, companies such as BMW, Intel and Qualcomm actively support the development and testing of new type of batteries.
It should be noted that one of the companies with which Sila is actively cooperating is Amperex. As far as we know, Amperex is a supplier of batteries for Apple and Samsung. If everything goes according to plan, in a few years we will see the long-awaited increase in the autonomous operation of our devices.
