I hope our readers do not forget about the importance of the safety of their devices. Google always remembers this. It is for this reason that it releases monthly security updates for the Android operating system. Once, having promised this, the company has been holding this word for many years. The July security update for Android can already be downloaded and installed.

First of all, the security update becomes available to Pixel and Nexus device owners. Many of them today prefer to use the beta version of Android P, but for the vast majority of users it is recommended to stay on Android 8.1 until the official release of the next version of the OS.

The Android 8.1 security update fixes 11 bugs found since the previous update. Some of them are called critical vulnerabilities. They allow you to remotely attack devices that have not yet received the July update. Fortunately, Google does not have data that anyone has been able to take advantage of these vulnerabilities.

In total, the July update brought 26 security fixes and one stability fix. It is intended for Pixel and Pixel 2 smartphones that have experienced problems with the quality of the Wi-Fi connection when using some models of routers.

The firmware files and OTA update files can now be downloaded for the following Google devices:

  • Pixel 2 XL : PIXEL: firmware, OTA-update;
  • Pixel: firmware, OTA-update;
  • Pixel XL: firmware, OTA-update;
  • Pixel: firmware, OTA-update;
  • Pixel C: firmware, OTA-update;
  • Nexus 6P: firmware, OTA-update;
  • Nexus 5X: firmware, OTA-update.

After a couple of weeks users of the mentioned above devices will be able to get an update over the wireless network.
