The latest top smartphones from Asus feature artificial intelligence (AI) that's designed to help users take better photos.

Both phones have 6.2-inch displays with Full-HD resolution (2,246 by 1,080 pixels) in an 18: 9 format.

The main difference between the two models is that the 5Z has Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 845 processor, while the 5 makes do with a Snapdragon 636 chip. Both chips also use AI to boost their performance.

Both phones have the same 7.6-millimetre-thick unibody metal case in silver or blue-black with rounded edges and, like the iPhone . This houses the speaker and the front camera. The backs of the phones have a fingerprint sensor and a dual-lens camera (8 megapixels and 12 megapixels).

This camera has a new Sony image sensor, the IMX363, and a 120-degree wide-angle lens. It also offers a four-axis optical image stabilizer for photos and three-axis electronic stabilization for video. The latter can be recorded in 4K resolution up to 30 frames per second.

The Zenfone 5, with 4 gigabytes (GB) of RAM and 64 GB of storage capacity, is expected to hit markets in late June for € 400 ( RM1,941). The Zenfone 5Z, with twice as much RAM and storage, should follow in July for € 600 (RM2,912). – dpa
