Nicotine e-cigarette increases the risk of cancer and heart disease

Published recently results of research by scientists at New York University confirmed fears that electronic cigarettes create a higher risk of cancer and cardiovascular disease than previously thought. So in mice that were fumigated with electronic cigarettes for the equivalent of 10 years (12 weeks of real time), DNA damage was found to the bladder, heart and lungs.

But this is not all. Despite the fact that the content of nitrosamines, which are carcinogens, in the body of “electronic” smokers is 97% less than that of “tobacco”, it is still much higher than that of non-smokers. However, the final result will be known not earlier than one year after the start of the research. One of the participants in the project, Mun-Chong Tang, said that it was then that it would be clear that it caused more harm – ordinary or electronic cigarettes.

Although scientists suggest that electronic cigarettes are probably less harmful, the results of the studies indicate the nitrosation of nicotine in the body (in ordinary cigarettes, this occurs during the processing of tobacco). So, we can conclude: electronic cigarettes are far from safe.

The results again confirm the need to introduce quality control of electronic cigars for the content of harmful substances.
