In October 2008, an outer object with a diameter of 4 m entered the Earth's atmosphere, which exploded at an altitude of 37 km above the Nubia desert in Sudan. This asteroid received the 2008 TC3 index, and the scientists managed to find about fifty of its fragments measuring 1-10 cm, which were combined into a collection of “Almahata Sitta”. Most of them belonged to the ureilites and contained tiny diamonds of non-terrestrial origin.

The studies conducted since then using an electron microscope have shown the presence of iron-nickel, chromite and phosphate sulfides in diamonds. This brings them together with earthly diamonds, but scientists have found that the formation of such a substance requires a monstrous pressure – at least 20 gigapascals. And this, in turn, means that these diamonds were born in the depths of a fairly large planet, no less than Mercury, even closer to Mars.

But if the diamonds formed in the depths of another large planet, how did they get inside the asteroid? This led scientists to create the hypothesis of a “planetary embryo” – the protonucleus of a future planet, the first piece of “stone”, which was formed from compacted cosmic dust in the era of the formation of the solar system. Then it resembled a “soup” in which everything flew, collided and mixed with each other, forming new cosmic bodies.

Probably a certain planet was formed before the nine known to us, in its depths the processes of diamond formation had started, but it did not take its place, it did not receive a stable orbit. And was destroyed in a collision with other objects of the young star system, sprawling into fragments, similar to the appearance of satellites from gas giants. These tiny diamonds from the asteroid are the last, but most convincing, traces of its existence.
