In the US, everything related to the submarine fleet is called “quiet service”. Due to the aspiration not only to minimize noise under water, but also to prevent leakage of data about the features of work and life of submariners. And in order not to create a temptation for sailors to spread bikes, official books about their lives are periodically published.

One of the last books that attracted the attention of the press is devoted to the peculiarities of feeding on submarines. Service on the submarines is difficult and dangerous by definition, and therefore the submariners are almost the best fed in the fleet, even if the campaign lasts several months without lifting to the surface. On fast diesel submarines, food is loaded in the old-fashioned way, by boxes and manually, and on nuclear missile carriers there is a special elevator for aluminum pallets with a volume of 6 cubic meters.

American sailors eat about the same as their land counterparts: soups, salads, corned beef, sauces and various dishes of eggs. But there is also an exotic, like ginger fries, and on weekends on submarines bake pizza. The dessert is usually represented by rice pudding, baked apples and cherry pie.

An interesting detail – in the profession of a coca-submariner, cooking food is of minimal importance. The most important task is to maintain a schedule for feeding the crew, which requires knowledge in warehouse accounting, specific storage of products, accounting, sanitation, etc. And in between meals, the galley's rooms become training rooms for sailors – in the crowded submarine all sq.m. are used as rationally as possible.
