About 30 years ago, fragments of bones of a very old and unusually large dinosaur for their time were discovered in South Africa. Today, after studying all the details, it was finally classified, named “Ledumahadi mafube”, the residence time was set (about 200 million years ago), and named the largest land creature of that era. He is considered to be the unofficial ancestor of a huge and famous family of sauropods.

The name “Ledumahadi mafube” in Sesotho, the traditional language for the discovery territory, means “A deafening thunderbolt at dawn”. Such a figurative comparison could cause the size of a dinosaur – up to 4 m in height and 12 tons of weight. This is a bit compared to the giants of the Jurassic period, but Ledumahadi mafube and lived long before them – he was a kind of prototype, a creative attempt at evolution to put giant creatures on four legs.

The four-legged dinosaur had a very unusual structure of limbs, which causes scientists delight and surprise. According to Dr. Blair McPhee from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, it looks like a two-legged creature with a powerful shoulder girdle decided to learn to run on all fours and stood up. A very useful skill if you are going to evolve into a huge and heavy monster, from which many species of real giants will come. Alas, for more detailed conclusions information is still small.
