The new message indicates an almost ready upgrade to Oreo for some popular Samsung Galaxy smartphones that debuted in 2017.
Sometimes months or even a year pass before Samsung's smartphones get the next version of the Android operating system. In particular, this applies to the company's mid-range and budget segments. According to a new report based on Wi-Fi certification information reviewed by Ro (Ro) on the pages of the gsmarena.com resource, some Galaxy J5 models, with the joy of their users, will eventually be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo.
Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017) will receive Android Oreo
This became known after the Wi-Fi Alliance certified 13 variants of Galaxy J5 as ready to upgrade to Oreo. This means that this update is almost ready for Samsung.
However, not all Galaxy J5 phones will receive a new operating system. The first Galaxy J5 (2015) and all Galaxy J5 models released in 2016 are not considered.
In the list of devices that will receive the long-awaited update – 13 versions of Galaxy J5, including J5 Pro and versions supporting two SIM- kart. The full list of versions is also available: SM-J530GM, SM-J530GM / DS, SM-J530F / DS, SM-J530Y / DS, SM-J530G, SM-J530S, SM-J530L, SM-J530F, SM-J530K, SM-J530YM / DS and SM-J530Y.
The message in question does not mean that the update will start soon. Certification of Wi-Fi is part of the process of preparing the update and firmware, before its release, additional testing is required. It is expected that the smartphone software will include the Experience UI 9.0 shell from Samsung, with the exception of some features inherent in the flagship smartphone models.
