Sony has announced a new CMOS photo module called IMX586. According to company representatives, the novelty combines pixels with a size of 0.8 μm, which is a record result. Thanks to this, the camera will be able to create 48-megapixel images.
For clarity, the company compared the sizes of pixels. The result of the IMX586 is half the size of other modern pixels, says Phone Arena.
The sensor has built-in support for exposure control technology and signal processing functions. New smartphones will show a four-fold dynamic range in comparison with conventional devices and improved sensitivity thanks to Quad Bayer technology.
The photos will get quality even in poor light conditions. Noise compared to existing models will be significantly less.
Below in the photo – a comparison of 12 and 48 megapixels. The image is much sharper. By the way, the maximum resolution of the images will be 8000 x 6000 pixels.
The new sensor will be available in September. When he is inside smartphones, it's not known.
