Technology Ghost will provide access to augmented reality from any smartphone

Developers introduced the world to augmented reality and froze at the crossroads. People were not ready to pay significant money for a full-fledged implementation, like Microsoft HoloLens and Magic Leap One, and therefore the creators of content for them do not hurry to create. The power of the same smartphone, albeit flagship, is enough only for simple, detached from the reality of entertainment – an example of Pokemon Go before your eyes. And then the Ghost startup comes on the scene.

Ghost is a headset with the same operating system on board, which is positioned as a link between developers of augmented reality applications and smartphone manufacturers. Structurally, this is a case with a projector and sensors, into which the iPhone is inserted the 6th generation and newer, the phone Google Pixel or Samsung Galaxy models S7 and S8. Next, the processing power of the smartphone is used to generate augmented reality.

In the description to Ghost indicated that the system provides a review of 70 degrees, knows how to navigate through the sensors of the smartphone and creates an image of the quality that can display a particular phone model. OS Ghost allows you to easily take a window with any typical application and “hang” it in the virtual space so that the user can move in the real world and at the same time work with the software. Plus there is support for virtual reality at the level of Google Cardboard.

The bottleneck of the startup is its utopian nature, at the moment the developers can only show the concept, but not the prototype of the headset. But when they collect at least $ 80,000, necessary for the embodiment of ideas “in metal”, then you can judge about the advantages and disadvantages of the headset. But the timing of entering the market is optimistic, in the sale Ghost may appear in February 2019 and at a price of only $ 79 per copy – for the sponsors of the project.
