The first smartphones running Android Go will be presented during the Mobile Congress in Barcelona. This was told by Google's senior vice president Hiroshi Lockhammer. According to him, the event will be shown at once by several devices based on the light version of the OS to provide consumers with more choice.
Android Go is a light version of the original operating system from Google, designed for lower-price devices. Since such devices have not more than 1 GB of RAM and a processor with low processing power, the simplified Android Go provides them with stable operation.
Google has been preparing for Android devices for a long time. To this end, the company's developers released simplified versions of proprietary applications, thereby reducing the amount of space on the disk. Almost all applications marked Go are compatible only with Android version 8.0 or 8.1, depriving owners of aging devices of the ability to install them.
