In Seattle, the construction of the central part of the future campus of the Internet retailer Amazon is coming to an end. The whole building will look like a complex of three unified giant spheres, inside of which the employees' workplaces are located directly among the green spaces. Plus more than 40 typical rectangular structures on the ground floors to highlight the beauty and grandeur of the main architectural ensemble.
Greenhouses inside the headquarters will plant 40,000 individual seedlings, 400 plants from five continents and more than fifty countries will be represented here. Preference is given to tropical and mountain species, growing at altitudes of 1 to 3 km. Because they can draw moisture directly from the air and within the spheres it will be possible to organize a system of “cloud watering”, along with the usual waterfalls and decorative ponds.
In order to maintain the optimal temperature inside the spheres, 22 ° C during the day and 14 ° C at night, a film was applied to each of the 2664 glass panels, which transmits only visible light, blocking infrared radiation. The height of the spheres reaches 30 m, width up to 40 m, air masses freely circulate inside this space, and the humidity varies from 65 to 80%.
John Schottler, one of the vice-presidents of Amazon, calls the new headquarters the future cultural center of Seattle. For where else in the city will you find such a biodiversity? For visitors there is a “Understory” zone, a unique viewing platform in the center of the building, with the possibility of panoramic observation of everything that happens inside the complex.js.src = “&version=v2.8”; 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));
